Torte
Meet Torte, a sleek black fancy pigeon with impressive muffed “slippered” feet and a personality as bold as their striking feathers. Hatched as part of an unexpected “oops!” clutch at a nearby wildlife facility, Torte was brought to DCPR while still young and curious about the world. Their sex is currently unknown, though we have a hunch Torte might be male; but what we do know for sure is that this youngster has plenty of spirit.
Torte is a feisty, high-energy bird who prefers to keep a bit of distance for now. Skittish when approached and quick to make their opinions known, Torte is still figuring out what it means to trust humans. But beneath that spirited exterior is a bright, intelligent pigeon who has the potential to bond deeply with someone patient, gentle, and willing to let Torte set the pace. With consistent kindness and calm handling, this fiery little fluff-foot could transform into a devoted companion.
