FettUccine

Meet Fettuccine, an assumed-male (not DNA-confirmed) racing Homer with a big personality, a bigger heart, and a rescue story that captured an entire neighborhood. We believe Fettuccine was part of the mass-release situation that swept through the area in July, but unlike many pigeons who vanished into the city, he stuck close, mostly because he needed help. After what was likely a predator attack left him with a broken leg, Fettuccine was seen courageously hopping around on one foot, visiting porches and doorsteps in search of support. Neighbors fed him everything from crackers to Oreos, cheering him on as he tried his best to survive.

When it became clear he wasn’t getting better, or going anywhere, a kind neighbor secured him and brought him to DCPR. Although his leg injury had healed on its own by then, leaving him with a permanent limp, he still uses the leg for balance and gets around beautifully. Aside from preferring softer surfaces, Fettuccine needs no special accommodations- just love, patience, and a cozy place to land.

During his first stay at DCPR, Fettuccine slowly came out of his shell, showing himself to be a curious, affectionate, and surprisingly sweet companion. He was adopted into a wonderful home where he blossomed even more, but due to their son’s allergies, Fettuccine has found his way back to us. He’s once again ready to offer his sweetness, resilience, and snuggly charm to the right family.

If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle pigeon with a story of perseverance and a heart full of warmth, Fettuccine would love to meet you. Could you give this brave boy the best gift of all this holiday season, a forever home?

Note: Fettuccine is currently in a foster home where it is noted he does best with a lot of out-of-cage time daily.
